‘Farce And Total Waste Of Time’: Notre Dame Pulls Incredibly Weak Sore Loser Move Amid College Football Playoff Drama

If you need another reason to hate Notre Dame, here you go.

Pete Bevacqua, the athletic director of Notre Dame, told ESPN that the football program is in “utter disbelief and shock” (the four-letter network actually used those words) after being excluded from the 12-team College Football Playoff field announced Sunday.

With this being the case, the Fighting Irish announced that they have decided to opt out of participating in any bowl game. (RELATED: Montana State Football Player Smacks Away Head Coach During Heated Playoff Confrontation)

“As a team, we’ve decided to withdraw our name from consideration for a bowl game following the 2025 season,” the program wrote in a tweet. “We appreciate all the support from our families and fans, and we’re hoping to bring the 12th national title to South Bend in 2026.”

Bevacquan went on to tell ESPN that rankings prior to the last one are a “farce and total waste of time.”

Defeating Notre Dame in Week 1, Miami leapfrogged the Irish in the final College Football Playoff rankings to claim the last at-large berth, and this is ultimately what led us to the Fighting Irish being a bunch of, well, crybabies.

Notre Dame and their fans need to understand something, and it’s really quite simple: MIAMI BEAT NOTRE DAME.

The committee got that.

“Once we moved Miami ahead of BYU, then we had that side-by-side comparison that everybody had been hungering for,” said College Football Playoff selection committee chair Hunter Yurachek, per ESPN. “You look at those two teams on paper, and they are almost equal in their schedule strength, their common opponents, the results against common opponents.

“But the one metric we had to fall back on, again, was the head to head.”

The committee made the right call, and God bless ’em for it.
