Busy National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell is out hiring for a new Principal Private Secretary. For up to £117,800…
Powell is looking for someone to sit “across No10 and National Security Secretariat” to support the implementation of the National Security Strategy. The hire “will ensure the NSA is able to prioritise his time and deliver maximum impact” and also “lead the NSA’s US portfolio, working closely with BE Washington, facilitating his regular engagement with a range of senior interlocutors, and building personal networks to support this.” “National and international travel including regular out of hours and weekend working required” – more off-the cuff China visits no doubt…
The two-year hire also gets an additional Private Office Allowance of £12,160. Powell’s layout is different because he is technically a SpAd and not a civil servant. He has a Principal Private Secretary as well as two others – a Number Ten Private Secretary and a Private Secretary in the Cabinet Office. Do you think that’s enough?
