Have you heard? Keir Starmer has a shiny new media strategy to – in Number 10’s own words – ‘go where the people are’ by cosying up to influencers, launching a Substack, and filming TikToks with poor sound quality. His debut on Pete Wicks’ Man-Made podcast two weeks ago has, unfortunately, not quite gone where the people are. It currently has around 10,700 views on YouTube…

For reference, Wicks’ previous episode featured the 2023 King of the Jungle Sam Thompson. That got 98,000 views. The incumbent Prime Minister is on around one-tenth of that, so hopefully Starmer doesn’t fancy his chances on next year’s I’m A Celeb. Even compared to Wicks’ average of around 54,000 views per video, Starmer’s effort only reached one-fifth of the audience. Maybe he’ll have more luck on Substack?
