With all eyes on Venezuela and the Pentagon’s recent strikes on alleged narco boats, the United States has been raining down bombs on Somalia throughout the year. The latest attacks in the African country bring the total number to over 100.
U.S troops are now on the ground in Somalia, fighting alleged members of ISIS, according to multiple reports. Gen. Dagvin Anderson, the Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), also wants the campaign to be “intensified.” The official government response is that we are waging a war against terrorism. But as we know all too well, the government often hides its real intentions behind vapid press releases intended to mislead the public, or just outright lies. The real reasons are far more complicated and point to a bigger, bloodier confrontation with some of America’s biggest adversaries.
