Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was confronted by a crowd outside a House Homeland Security Committee hearing room on Thursday shortly after delivering testimony on threats to the homeland and illegal immigration.
Noem testified alongside National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent and FBI National Security Branch Operations Director Michael Glasheen.

According to the committee’s schedule, Noem departed the hearing early to co-chair a separate session where she was set to receive a report from the FEMA Review Council outlining proposed program changes.
Moments after she left the hearing room, shouting could be heard on the room’s feed as individuals interrupted the proceedings.

Outside the room, Noem was approached by reporters and surrounded by protesters while holding her grandchild.
Video captured the confrontation as demonstrators shouted at her from close range.
Some yelled, “Shame on you,” while others accused her of “using a baby as a political tool.”
One individual in the crowd shouted, “You run concentration camps. You are the modern-day SS. You run the Gestapo.”

Earlier in the day, protesters disrupted the Homeland Security Committee hearing itself. During Noem’s testimony, the group shouted, “Stop ICE raids! The power of Christ compels you!” before being removed from the room.
The disruptions occurred as the committee examined issues related to national security and immigration enforcement.

Noem’s appearance included discussion of ongoing threats to the homeland and operational challenges within DHS, while Kent and Glasheen provided updates from their respective agencies.
The protest marked one of several interruptions surrounding the hearing, with participants directing their comments at immigration enforcement actions and DHS leadership.
The committee continued its scheduled business following the removal of the individuals inside the hearing room.
Noem proceeded to her next scheduled meeting following the confrontation in the hallway.
