And this is exactly why Stephen Ross didn’t give up on Mike McDaniel.
The Miami Dolphins struggle mightily in cold weather — and by cold, we’re not talking about the brutal, bone-rattling freezes that turn your breath to ice and make fingers go numb. The Phins falter even when it’s just a bit brisk.
As a matter of fact, the Dolphins haven’t won when the kickoff temperatures dip below 40 degrees in 12 consecutive contests. That’s downright pleasant up in Kansas City or Denver, but to us Floridians who are climatized to some of the most extreme summers, it’s a freezing hell. Well, to the Dolphins’ dismay, Monday night’s showdown in Pittsburgh is shaping up to be downright frigid — way below that 40-degree threshold. Current forecasts are calling for a kickoff temperature around 18 degrees, with winds gusting up to 16 mph, according to AccuWeather.
In a bid to get his sun-soaked squad ready for the Arctic blast awaiting them, head coach Mike McDaniel flew the Dolphins into the Steel City early so the team could hold a practice in the snow. At night. Brrrr.

I personally don’t have much faith in my Dolphins beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh, certainly not with this cold in the way. I’ve been a Dolphins fan for 35 years now, and it all ends the same way in freezing temperatures: we lose.
Why would anything change now? (Sigh, I’m so jaded as a Dolphins fan) … still though, absolutely genius idea by McDaniel.
