Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) criticized Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s newly announced campaign for the U.S. Senate in Texas, calling the Democratic lawmaker’s bid unserious and unlikely to resonate with voters in the state, as reported by Fox News.
Kennedy made the remarks Sunday during an appearance on “My View with Lara Trump,” reacting to Crockett’s entry into the race earlier this month.

Crockett, a Texas Democrat, launched her Senate campaign with sharp criticism of President Donald Trump, whom she has frequently targeted in public statements and on social media.
“They need to tell her that the voices in her head are not real,” Kennedy said during the interview.
Crockett announced her candidacy in a video posted on X, where she appeared on screen as audio clips of past comments from President Trump played in the background.
The video served as a centerpiece of her campaign launch and framed her bid as a direct challenge to Trump and his policy agenda.
Her announcement has drawn immediate attention from Republicans, who argue her positions are misaligned with the political realities of Texas. Kennedy said Crockett’s message would not gain traction with voters in the Lone Star State.

Crockett formally kicked off her campaign at an event in Dallas, where she criticized Republican leadership and accused Trump of harming working Americans.
“I’m done with the senators sitting around doing nothing while Trump takes your hard-earned money, skims your Social Security, slashes Medicare, and gives tax breaks to billionaires. I’m done,” Crockett said during her announcement.

Kennedy rejected Crockett’s approach and questioned her viability as a statewide candidate. He described her as “wrong on every single issue” and predicted her campaign would end unsuccessfully.
“He called her ‘wrong on every single issue’ and predicted she will lose her bid and ‘be leaving Congress,’” Kennedy said during the interview.
Kennedy also addressed the broader issue of lawmakers expressing dissatisfaction with serving in Congress.
“I don’t want anybody to be in Congress who doesn’t want to be here,” Kennedy said. “So, if people are unhappy, you know, don’t let the door hit them in the butt on the way out.”
Despite Republican criticism, Crockett’s supporters within the Democratic Party have portrayed her as a rising figure.
She has developed a sizable following on social media and has frequently generated headlines for her confrontational style and outspoken commentary.
Crockett is not the only Democrat seeking the Texas Senate seat. State Rep. James Talarico has also entered the Democratic primary.
Former Rep. Colin Allred, who previously represented Dallas in Congress, exited the race only hours before Crockett publicly announced her candidacy.
Kennedy expressed confidence that the Senate seat will remain under Republican control, regardless of the Democratic primary outcome.
“The people of Texas will never embrace her message,” Kennedy said.
He concluded his remarks by questioning Crockett’s motivation for running.
“I don’t know why she’s doing this, but you know, hey, you have the right in America to do dumb things if you want to,” Kennedy said.
The Texas Senate race is expected to remain a focal point of national political attention as both parties prepare for a competitive election cycle.
