Police Launch Investigation Into Brandon Aiyuk After Allegedly Driving Over 100 MPH Near 49ers’ Stadium

Local authorities are taking notice after wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was allegedly speeding past the San Francisco 49ers’ stadium.

The Santa Clara Police Department has acknowledged the existence of a video uploaded Saturday to YouTube by Aiyuk, showing him capturing footage of himself allegedly exceeding 100 mph while out for a drive.

“At this point, the video is being reviewed, and further details can be provided when available,” said a spokesperson while speaking with TMZ. (RELATED: 49ers’ Brock Purdy Gives Military Veterans, Families Absolutely Glorious Set Of Christmas Presents)

The 27-year-old allegedly reached speeds as high as 111 mph at one stage and clocked 104 mph in his Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing while driving past the stadium, a venue where he has yet to appear in a game this season.

In Oct. 2024, roughly two months after concluding a prolonged contract dispute with a four-year, $120 million extension, Aiyuk suffered tears to his ACL and MCL, sidelining him from games ever since.

According to a report from The Athletic in Nov., Aiyuk has skipped team meetings and other activities while remaining on the physically unable to perform list, a situation that has frustrated the 49ers’ front office.

In response, San Francisco voided the guaranteed funds in his contract for the 2026 season. According to the same report, Aiyuk informed the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) that he had no intention of pursuing a grievance over the matter, signaling his willingness to part ways with the team. The option bonus Aiyuk was slated to receive for 2026 amounted to $24.935 million, as detailed by The Athletic.

Just days after the 49ers assigned Aiyuk as “reserve/left squad,” head coach Kyle Shanahan informed reporters that he had not laid eyes on the wide receiver “in a month,” per the New York Post.

Selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Aiyuk recorded 60 receptions for 748 yards and seven touchdowns overall in his debut season, then posted 56 catches for 826 yards and five scores the following year in 2021.

In 2022, Aiyuk had a breakout season, hauling in 78 receptions for 1,015 yards and eight touchdowns, before posting 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven scores in 2023.

Prior to suffering his injury in 2024, Aiyuk recorded 25 receptions for 374 yards and no touchdowns.
