For the kids out there going to Christmas parties and taking pictures with your friends, a word of advice. Dance like no one is watching, but take group pictures like they may be used to impeach you someday.
For a Christmas gift to all of us, the released “Epstein files” were accompanied by an announcement promising transparency. The files would “shine a light,” “close a chapter,” and “restore trust.” So far, it has been more like a predictable pair of socks in your stocking.
Did the release quell the circus of intrigue? No. The truth is often opaque; the complexity is trying to obscure it. D.C. is the best at this. (RELATED: DOJ Releases More Epstein Files, Calls New Trump Claims ‘Untrue And Sensationalist’)
The legacy media covered as was expected, dropping Trump’s name around the release with no context, in order to implicate him.
Within minutes of the release, tens of thousands of documents in the files were downloaded by millions of citizens who had not read a document longer than a warning label on their Xanax since 2008.
I did not read them; I just do not have the attention span. I would bookmark a ransom note. So, the media cherry picks anything they can find that implies Trump’s involvement and splash it into a headline. I read those, and when you do, you see that nothing in the article is factual. Just click bait.
Here is the summary. Like most rich New York/Palm Beach socialites, Trump knew Epstein. They ran in similar social circles. But in 2007 Trump banned him from Mar-a-Lago and helped turn in the pedophile (for which Epstein was convicted). Trump was the only one who talked to prosecutors openly and without an attorney present.
Trump and Epstein then hated each other. Epstein went on to help Democrats, including texting a Congresswoman while she questioned Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, under oath in hearings. Democratic Rep. Stacey Plaskett called Epstein a “constituent.” Calling Epstein a “constituent” is like calling Bill Cosby your pharmacist. Epstein was a big Democrat. He clearly was involved with the CIA, Mossad and other intelligence agencies. They protected him and his horrific pedophile ring. Maybe he even used some of the powerful people he compromised. He was not a “hedge fund manager” as the media told us. He was an international extortionist with the CIA riding shotgun.
A lot of the releases were redacted by Biden for four years and perhaps by Trump for a few months. There is zero chance if there was a smoking gun on Trump in the files that Biden/Kamala would not release it based on their sense of fair play during the campaign. Somehow a Democrat Party that manufactured 90 criminal charges against Trump in four years of power somehow feared they should not release incriminating Trump pics as to appear to be piling on. Nah.
Upon the release of the documents, people trolled through page after page of black rectangles, thoughtfully placed to protect “privacy/ national security.” The redacted black rectangle industry is really the only industry of color to which Trump’s Washington gives special treatment.
Politicians reacted on cue. A few took credit for the release, despite having been busy at the time working against it. The only politicians who were not worried were women. Women mostly knew where they had been for the last twenty years. And if we know anything about women, they can recount to a man a timeline.
As I have said in previous columns, the release of the Epstein files would be a big nothing. The usual suspects were already mentioned in the press. Trump’s not wanting them released roused a media frenzy, then he agreed to their release. Almost all the villains turned out to be Democrats. (RELATED: RON HART: My Annual Christmas List)
The main players are Woody Allen, Kevin Spacey, Michael Jackson, Bill Clinton and the sex offender Olympic doctor Nassar. Wow, you think you know a guy!
In the era of Weinstein, Epstein, Woody Allen, Bill Cosby, Anthoney Weiner et.al, none of this is a surprise. Those names just mentioned are the reason women should cover their drinks at a bar.
It is not like we did not know Bill Clinton was a player. And we know Hillary will not divorce him and lose her spousal immunity that would let him become a witness against her. Hillary, when asked if this Epstein file release is as big a scandal as the Monica Lewinsky one, would probably say, “Close, but no cigar”.
