Christmas is the time of year when you feel more positive about life, when you focus on simple joys, such as spending quality time with your family, sitting by a fire, eating brunch on Christmas Day, and watching your niece open her first present.
You also feel less cynical. Even as an adult, you may no longer believe in Santa Claus, but you still feel a hint of the Christmas magic; that life isn’t just about punching the clock, paying taxes, and retiring to a nursing home.

This feeling should be embraced all year round, not only during the Christmas season. The Christmas spirit should always be alive and well, whether it’s the day after the holiday or halfway through the dog days of July. (RELATED: Santa Is Real)
But it’s not about being lazy, checking out from your responsibilities, or relaxing too much to the point where you become complacent – it’s really about joy, kindness, generosity, taking life seriously but not too seriously.
The best way to approach life when it inevitably grinds you down to a pulp is to remain positive and remember the small things. You don’t have to be cooking on the level of Will Ferrell from “Elf,” but remembering the magic you felt on Christmas day when you were a kid will give you the motivation to tackle your worst problems and perform better at work or in school.
More importantly, though, embracing the Christmas spirit will improve your relationships with family, friends, your wife, or your girlfriend. You will become magnetic, a joy to be around. This is especially true for young men, many of whom think that feeling sad and melancholic all the time makes you a more attractive, deeper, mysterious person.
It does not. There comes a time in adulthood when people don’t want to be around someone who’s too edgy and withdrawn; they want to be around someone who’s funny and kindhearted, who can melt away their own woes and make them feel young again.
Spreading some good ol’ Christmas magic in the summer will make you a far more attractive person to your loved ones, and you, yourself, will feel better for it.
