Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is facing renewed scrutiny following new allegations tied to her campaign fundraising activity, adding to a series of ethical and legal questions that have surrounded her tenure after the collapse of the high-profile prosecution she brought against President Donald Trump, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.
On November 29, 2025, Fox News published an article sharply criticizing Willis’ conduct in office, stating, “Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, an elected Democrat, is a disgrace to her office and the legal profession. She tried to bring down President Trump with a politically motivated indictment, but her vendetta came crashing to a pitiful end.”

The article revisited the ethical controversy involving Willis’ hiring of Nathan Wade, a private attorney and municipal court judge with no felony trial experience, who was paid $250 an hour by Fulton County taxpayers and ultimately earned nearly $700,000 while billing unusually long workdays.
New allegations now extend beyond ethics and into campaign finance practices. Investigative reporter Bob Cushman of The Freedom Press reports that Willis’ campaign fundraising records reveal patterns he claims are consistent with illicit straw-donor activity.

According to campaign finance data reported by the state of Georgia, Willis has received $2,845,402.70 in total campaign contributions. The data lists 72,688 individual donations averaging $39.15 each.
One of the most significant points raised in Cushman’s analysis is that approximately 83 percent of the listed donations reportedly include no donor name and no address.
Georgia campaign finance rules allow campaigns to omit identifying information for donors who give less than $100, a threshold Cushman argues creates vulnerability to abuse.
Cushman conducted a deeper review of donors whose identities were listed and identified what he describes as “straw donors,” commonly referred to as “smurfs,” a term used in campaign finance investigations to describe individuals whose names are allegedly used to mask the true source of political funds.
Ten such donors identified in his review account for a combined $1,782,428 in federal election contributions across 73,521 donations, averaging $24.24 per contribution. The donor profiles, according to Cushman, show an average age of approximately 70.
Using data from the Federal Election Commission, Cushman compared these donor patterns to those associated with other Democratic candidates and committees.
He reports that the same donor names also appear in contribution records linked to figures and organizations including Gretchen Whitmer, the Democratic National Committee, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Mark Kelly, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, Raphael Warnock, Jon Ossoff, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar, John Fetterman, and Hakeem Jeffries.
When combining donor data associated with Willis, Booker, and Kelly, Cushman reports identifying 52 donors tied to $9,197,115.75 in federal contributions across 395,481 individual donations, with an average donation amount of $23.26.
