Watch Jasmine Crockett Contradict Herself On Mike Johnson As She Insists ‘Final Nail’ In His Coffin Imminent

Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett contradicted herself Friday on House Speaker Mike Johnson, praising him for lasting longer than she expected while simultaneously insisting his downfall as speaker is close at hand.

Appearing on “All In With Chris Hayes,” host Chris Hayes referenced Republican redistricting efforts tied to Johnson and President Donald Trump. He asked how quickly internal strain could surface once lawmakers return to Washington. Crockett  pivoted to what she called deeper problems facing House Republicans.

“I think it’s looking really bad for him. But, listen, I didn’t expect him to last this long, so kudos to him. He’s lasted longer, definitely, than the last speaker that they had. So that’s something to be proud of,” Crockett said. “But I really don’t know. From the frustration over the Epstein files and the cracks that we’ve seen there, to the number of people that have just decided that they want to retire, because, as it’s been noted, this has actually been the most unproductive Congress that we’ve had in decades.”

Crockett said House Republicans under Johnson have accomplished little and hurt the country.

WATCH:

“The things that they have gotten done, they are disastrous, from the big ugly bill, and which we will feel the full effects of that, coming up right until the midterms. And then the fact that when we go back in, we’re facing another shutdown come January 31. Every time I’m flying, I’m talking to TSA workers, and I’m telling them, please, put something back. Please be prepared, because I don’t believe that these people are actually going to govern. So, I think that that’s another thing that may end up hitting them really hard. And depending on how Johnson handles this pending shutdown, I think that this may be the final nail in his coffin.”

Crockett’s claim that Republicans have delivered nothing but “disastrous” outcomes clashes with the GOP’s legislative achievements. House Republicans passed the sweeping “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which Johnson says delivers historic investments in border security and mass deportations, tax incentives to build and buy in America, and provisions to block illegal immigrants from receiving taxpayer benefits. GOP leadership has pushed legislation that would funnel billions into new border enforcement resources, including hiring thousands of Border Patrol agents and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel and modernizing surveillance technology at ports of entry.
