We Now Have Florida’s DJ Lagway Visiting Hated Florida State As Transfer Portal Gets Even Wackier: REPORT

The Florida-Florida State rivalry could potentially get a lot more spicy, and personally, I’m here for it.

According to an ESPN report Saturday afternoon from Pete Thamel, DJ Lagway — the Florida Gators quarterback who recently entered the transfer portal — will take a visit Sunday to Florida State. (RELATED: Touched By Ole Miss’ Feel-Good Story? So Is Lane Kiffin And His Bank Account)

Initial news of the 20-year-old Lagway’s intention to enter the transfer portal surfaced Dec. 15. Hailing from Willis, Texas, he played for the Gators over the course of two years. During the 2025 season, he recorded the highest number of interceptions in the SEC with 14, alongside 16 passing touchdowns.

Lagway ranked among the top prospects in the 2024 recruiting class, pledging to Florida in Dec. 2022 following Billy Napier’s debut year as head coach. Throughout his recruitment, Florida State did not extend a scholarship offer to him.

As a fan of both the Miami Hurricanes and college football in The Sunshine State, I would love nothing more than to see additional chaos injected into the rivalry between the Seminoles and Gators.

And since we’re on the subject of the transfer portal, I think Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith should make the transfer to the University of Miami, did y’all see that the other night?

DJ Lagway to Florida State … Jeremiah Smith to Miami … let’s make it happen for the culture.
