Colts’ Alec Pierce Slapped With Ejection For Contact With Referee, But Is This Just Another Example Of NFL Being Soft?

Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me …

Alec Pierce, wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts, was ejected from Sunday’s matchup against the Houston Texans.

Following an incomplete pass targeted at Pierce in the end zone, the receiver approached the closest referee to voice his frustration, seemingly upset over a non-called penalty. As he leaned in to make his point, Pierce made contact with the official, resulting in his ejection from the game. (RELATED: Dolphins Bring On Troy Aikman For GM Hunt: REPORT)

While players have to be aware to avoid any physical contact with referees, the bump from Pierce wasn’t especially aggressive or intentional. It appeared to be the sort of minor incident that officials often overlook. However, Pierce was removed from the game.

Prior to his ejection in the third quarter, Pierce was enjoying a standout performance, hauling in four receptions for 132 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

WATCH:

Not only did Alec Pierce barely touch the official, but he did it while looking in the opposite direction, which clearly shows that it wasn’t intentional. How he got ejected from the game is absolutely incredible.

But I’ve blogged about this before, how the NFL is soft, and here we go again. It’s nonsense.

I feel like college gets it, that football is violent and that’s how it is. Just ask Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal. Take notes, NFL.
