Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Friday accused Vice President J.D. Vance of endorsing violence against civilians, escalating political tensions following a fatal confrontation between an ICE agent and a Minneapolis immigration activist earlier this week, as reported by Fox News.
Ocasio-Cortez made the remarks on Capitol Hill while responding to questions from Fox News and other media outlets about the Trump administration’s defense of the ICE agent involved in the Wednesday shooting death of Renee Nicole Good, 37, in Minneapolis.
“I understand that Vice President Vance believes that shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not,” Ocasio-Cortez said during the exchange.

The comments came after a video of the incident circulated widely online, sparking national debate and protests.
Democrats have sharply criticized the shooting, while the Trump administration has defended the actions of federal law enforcement.
Good was shot after confronting ICE agents from inside her vehicle during what federal officials described as an active enforcement operation.
Federal sources told Fox News on Friday that Good, a mother of three, worked as a Minneapolis-based immigration activist and was affiliated with a group known as “ICE Watch.”

Vice President Vance addressed the incident during a White House briefing on Thursday, pushing back forcefully on criticism from Democrats and activists.
“This was an attack on federal law enforcement. This was an attack on law and order,” Vance said.
“That woman was there to interfere with a legitimate law enforcement operation,” he continued. “The president stands with ICE, I stand with ICE, we stand with all of our law enforcement officers.”
Vance also described Good as “brainwashed” and suggested she was connected to a “broader, left-wing network,” comments that further inflamed the political response.
Ocasio-Cortez, responding directly to Vance’s statements, accused the vice president of endorsing extrajudicial killings.
“That is a fundamental difference between Vice President Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street,” she said.
The vice president’s office rejected Ocasio-Cortez’s characterization in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. A spokesperson accused the congresswoman of siding with activists who interfere with federal law enforcement.
“On National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, AOC made it clear she thinks that radical leftists should be able to mow down ICE officials in broad daylight,” the spokesperson said.
“She should be ashamed of herself. The Vice President stands with ICE and the brave men and women of law enforcement, and so do the American people.”
The exchange reflects growing political division over immigration enforcement and law enforcement authority following the Minneapolis shooting.
As protests continue and investigations proceed, both parties appear poised to use the incident as a flashpoint in the broader national debate over ICE operations and public safety.
