House Dem Calls Trump ‘Extremely Mentally Ill,’ Urges 25th Amendment After Greenland Message

A House Democrat is calling for the removal of President Donald Trump under the 25th Amendment following reported remarks he made about Greenland in a private message to Norway’s prime minister, prompting renewed calls from multiple Democrats questioning the president’s fitness for office, as reported by Fox News.

Rep. Yassamin Ansari, D-Ariz., made the accusation Monday in a post on X, asserting that Trump should be removed from office immediately.

“The president of the United States is extremely mentally ill, and it’s putting all of our lives at risk. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason — we need to invoke it immediately,” Ansari wrote.

The comment came in response to a reported text message exchange between Trump and Jonas Gahr Støre, which was first reported by PBS and later confirmed by the Norwegian prime minister’s office to Fox News Digital.

Fox News Digital said it reached out to the White House for comment Tuesday morning.

According to the transcript, Trump sent a message to Støre addressing several international issues, including Greenland, NATO, and the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America,” Trump reportedly wrote.

Trump continued by questioning Denmark’s claim over Greenland, writing, “Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents; it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also.”

He added, “I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you!”

Støre responded with a message urging restraint and dialogue, according to the transcript.

“Dear Mr President, dear Donald — on the contact across the Atlantic — on Greenland, Gaza, Ukraine — and your tariff announcement yesterday. You know our position on these issues. But we believe we all should work to take this down and de-escalate — so much is happening around us where we need to stand together. We are proposing a call with you later today — with both of us or separately — give us a hint of what you prefer!” Støre reportedly wrote.

The Norwegian prime minister’s office confirmed that the text exchange occurred Sunday. Støre later issued a statement reiterating Norway’s position.

“Norway’s position on Greenland is clear. Greenland is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark, and Norway fully supports the Kingdom of Denmark on this matter,” Støre said.

He also noted that NATO is taking steps to strengthen Arctic security and emphasized that the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by an independent committee, not the Norwegian government.

Ansari is not the only Democrat calling for Trump’s removal. Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-Calif., have also publicly urged invocation of the 25th Amendment.

“Donald Trump is unfit to lead and clearly out of control. Invoke the 25th Amendment,” Kamlager-Dove wrote on X. A note on her account states that it is “maintained by federal staff.”
