Famous Rapper Sues Kansas City Police Department, Demands Jury Trial

Rapper Trey Songz filed a lawsuit January 22 against the Kansas City Police Department arising from an alleged incident during the AFC Championship Game.

Court documents reviewed by The Daily Caller claimed the famous singer was “heckled” by members of the crowd when he was at his seat at the game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium January 24, 2021. Songz alleged the verbal heckling escalated to threats and harassment, resulting in security and police being called to his aid. He claimed that rather than protecting him and “keeping the peace” from the “unruly, aggressive, and intoxicated attendees” the Kansas City Police officers “physically assaulted, wrongfully arrested, handcuffed and detained” him.

The lawsuit named multiple defendants and asserted claims related to alleged negligence and misconduct connected to the events surrounding the game and demanded a jury trial.

Songz legal filing claimed he was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer, and highlighted that all criminal charges brought against him in connection with the alleged incident were ultimately dismissed.

In his suit, Songz claimed he ” incurred expenses relating to his medical care and treatment, loss of work, loss of reputation and loss of income.”

Songz is seeking unspecified damages.
