“Breaking Bad” actor Giancarlo Esposito claimed it’s “time for a revolution” Jan. 27 while on the Sundance Film Festival’s red carpet amid backlash against ICE operations in Minnesota.
Esposito took took a moment to address the politically-charged climate looming over the premiere of his new crime thriller “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York” in a Variety interview. He directly referenced ICE in his comments. He spoke to Variety after the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti during federal operations in January.
“This is time for a revolution — and they don’t even know that’s what they’re starting,” the actor asserted. “We have to stand up to it. They can’t take us all down.”

“If the whole world showed up on Putin’s doorstep or the Iranians’ doorstep or in Washington, they’d kill 500 or 50 million or however [many], but the rest of us would survive with a new [world],” Esposito said, according to Variety.
He continued, “Some very rich old white men are exerting their power to suppress our own people, thus creating a feeling of civil war in the streets, preparing the haters to hate, teaching them how to shoot.”

Esposito cautioned fans by saying, “This is all a preparation for a very insidious problem that’s happening in our world.”
He declared his frustrations and vowed to do what he could to bring attention to it.

Multiple celebrities sported “ICE Out” pins, including Esposito’s co-star Tatiana Maslany, who added another pin to her collection that read “Artists for Ceasefire,” the outlet reported.
