Chuck Schumer Wants to Shut the Government Down Unless Illegal Aliens Can Vote: Anna Paulina Luna [WATCH]

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said Senate resistance and procedural roadblocks are preventing passage of the SAVE America Act, a measure backed by President Donald Trump that would include voter ID requirements and other domestic security provisions, as Democratic leaders signal opposition and warn of a possible government shutdown.

The issue was discussed during an exchange with Chuck Payne, who pointed to comments from Senate Democratic leadership and lingering opposition within the Republican conference.

“Leader Schumer says, SAVE Act will be dead on arrival, innocent and want and warns of another GOP shutdown,” Payne said.

“So let’s talk about the SAVE Act, because it’s not just him, it’s another old dude out there, one that Mitch McConnell, who many say is also holding this thing up.”

Luna said the central obstacle remains the Senate filibuster, which she argued has stalled much of President Trump’s agenda, including election-related reforms.

“So again, in the Senate right now, they have this thing called the filibuster, and the Republican senators will not vote to remove that, even though it’s been one of the main things that have been responsible for holding back President Trump’s agenda,” Luna said.

She said that without changes to Senate procedure, legislation mandating voter ID does not currently have the votes needed to pass.

“But I think what’s most important here is that right now, unless the tool of a standing filibuster is implemented soon, actually does not have the votes to actually get voter ID through in a traditional fashion,” Luna said.

Luna also accused Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of using the budget process to block immigration enforcement, including operations carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“And so that’s why, when you saw my opposition to the SAVE Act, I also understand that Chuck Schumer wants to shut down the government so that he can stop all ICE operations,” Luna said.

She further alleged that Schumer has openly supported broad amnesty policies that would dramatically reshape the electorate.

“Let me be clear. Yesterday, Chuck Schumer also said he wants mass aim to see for over 22 million illegals,” Luna said.

“In fact, they are looking to actively replace American voters with illegal voters. That is from his lips directly.”

Luna said Democratic opposition to voter ID stands in contrast to polling that shows widespread support across racial and ethnic groups.

“Now we know that there’s overwhelming support from Black, Hispanic, white, Asian Americans for voter ID,” she said.

“Everyone is seeming to have common sense on this topic, except for the Senate.”

She said discussions are underway about using a procedural mechanism known as a standing filibuster, which would require senators to physically hold the floor to block legislation.

“And so that is why there have been talks among the senators to include leader soon on something called the standing filibuster that actually has to be initiated in the house via parliamentary procedure,” Luna said.

Luna said the House is preparing to move forward with new legislation aligned with President Trump’s priorities.

“And so we will be voting on something called the SAVE AMERICA Act,” she said.

“That’s something that President Trump wants and has championed on the SAVE AMERICA Act will include voter ID, but a number of other things that will secure the home front.”

She added that action on the legislation is expected in the near future.

“And so that will be coming,” Luna said.

“I think we’ll be talking about it here in the next few weeks.”
