A Maryland man faces attempted murder charges after confronting Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought at his home in Northern Virginia, according to court records.

Arlington County Police arrested Colin Demarco, 26, on Jan. 22. The man now faces two counts of attempted homicide, one count of wearing a mask in a public place and one count of carrying a concealed weapon, according to the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office. Demarco showed up to Vought’s house “wearing a surgical mask and gloves,” CBS News reported.

The man reportedly believed President Donald Trump‘s reelection would cause a “fascist takeover” of the U.S., according to the outlet. U.S. Marshals also discovered that Demarco was writing a “manifesto,” including notes on how to dispose of a body and the location of a “weapons stash.”

Court records accuse Demarco of planning to murder an individual with the initials “R.V.,” who “served as a presidential appointee,” CBS News reported.

Vought returned as the Director of the OMB following Trump’s reelection in November 2024. He previously served as deputy director of the office starting in February 2018, became the acting director in January 2019 and was first confirmed as director in July 2020.

The Arlington County Police Department did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
