Actress Halle Berry is speaking candidly about her personal life as she prepares to marry musician Van Hunt, making clear there is one thing she will not do in her relationship, as reported by Page Six.
Berry, 59, addressed the topic during Tuesday’s episode of the “Sex With Emily” podcast, explaining that she no longer pretends to have an orgasm to satisfy a partner.
“We had to get there so that he felt good about bringing us to orgasm,” she noted.

“We had to say that we did it so that he would feel good about himself. Because what is that doing? That’s putting his needs before our own. And now I don’t do that anymore.”

The Oscar-winning actress said she has changed her perspective over time.

“I’m like, ‘No, I come first like you come first to you,’” Berry continued.
“We both deserve to have this be a mutually enjoyable experience, so we both can roll over and go to sleep because we feel good — not one snoring and the other one looking at the ceiling, going, ‘What the hell?’”
Berry confirmed earlier this month that she is engaged to Hunt, 55. The couple has been dating for nearly six years.
She revealed the engagement news during the Feb. 5 episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” addressing speculation that she initially rejected his proposal.
“There’s some confusion that he asked me to marry him, and I said no, but that’s not the case,” she noted. “I did not say no, we just don’t have a date, but of course I said yes, I will marry him!”
Hunt had previously spoken about the proposal in June 2025, explaining that her answer had not yet been finalized at that time.
“So I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold, as you can see,” the musician noted at the time. “It’s just out there floating.”
Berry has publicly acknowledged that her past marriages contributed to her hesitation about walking down the aisle again.
She was married to retired Major League Baseball player David Justice from 1993 to 1997. She later married singer Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005. Her third marriage was to French actor Olivier Martinez, from 2013 to 2016.
Despite those experiences, Berry has indicated that her relationship with Hunt feels different.
“We don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t,” she said.
Still, she added that marriage remains likely.
“I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” she said.
“And I feel like I should, we should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”
Berry first confirmed her romance with Hunt in September 2020 through a social media post. The couple has since kept much of their relationship private while occasionally sharing updates publicly.
As their engagement moves forward, Berry made clear that honesty — in and out of the bedroom — remains central to the relationship.
