64% Say Trump’s Policies Will Fix the Country [WATCH]

A CNN host reported that a majority of viewers who watched President Donald Trump’s address believe his policies will move the United States in the right direction, citing polling data gathered before and after the speech.

“Among speech watchers tonight, 64% say his policies will move the US in the right direction,” the host said.

The host compared that figure to responses recorded before the speech began.

“And look at the growth President Trump made over the speech,” the host said. “So pre speech, it was 54% of speech watchers said his policies will move the US in the right direction. After the speech, that number goes up 10 percentage points.”

The host added that the increase indicated a shift among those watching.

“So Donald Trump made some progress with people watching the speech, from their pre speech expectations to what they saw in the speech itself,” the host said.

The 64% figure, the host noted, falls in line with reactions to similar addresses during Trump’s first term.

“And that 64% number that’s pretty much in range across all of his State of the Union addresses in his first term,” the host said.

“Last year the joint session, that’s about what we’ve seen is roughly two thirds have walked away from his speeches thinking he’s going to move it in the right direction.”

The host characterized portions of the speech as strongly tailored to Trump’s supporters.

“So a lot of red meat for the base. Yeah, no doubt about that,” the host said.

The host also discussed how the speech could affect upcoming elections.

“I if you’re a Republican on the ballot in 2026 I think you leave this speech being as happy as you could possibly be,” the host said, “that he sort of stuck to the script on the economy.”

The host added that Trump addressed immigration in a way that would resonate with his supporters.

“He gave red meat to the base on immigration,” the host said, “and they can leave the home tonight and sort of take that out on the campaign trail.”
