Motor Neurone Disease Australia, a charity supporting people with the disease and their families, has highlighted one man’s appeal to start the voluntary assisted dying process.
The heartbreaking case of 71-year-old Queenslander Tony Lewis, who was diagnosed with MND in 2025, has said he has been left with no choice but to apply for voluntary assisted dying (VAD) because of the lack of care.
He said he now wants to ask for help to die for fear of becoming a burden to his wife, Gill, who has been providing round-the-clock care.
