It’s Been Revealed How Much Lionel Messi Gets Paid, And Holy Moly, It Must Be Nice

What I would do for just a slither of this money …

Jorge Mas, a co-owner of Inter Miami, has revealed that superstar Lionel Messi gets paid an annual salary of $70-80 million, which features ownership shares of the club. Mas laid out the numbers while explaining that the organization has to max out their sponsorships, as well as other revenue streams. “The reason that I need to have sponsors and for them to be world-class is because players are expensive,” said Mas during an interview with Bloomberg. “I pay Messi — worth every penny — but it’s $70 million to $80 million a year. Across everything.”

In all of Major League Soccer (MLS), Messi is the highest-paid player, raking in a $12 million base salary and a $20,446,667 guaranteed compensation, per the salary guide issued from the MLS Players Association.

As a person who struggles in this economy, not gonna lie, I’m a bit irked. But at the same time, as an Inter Miami fan, I’m fine with Mas dishing out a ton of cash to have Lionel Messi on my team.

Plus, I want more of these:

I’m just gonna have to bite the bullet on this one as a jaded individual … championships, it is!
