Rep. Tim Burchett criticized Democratic leadership over election policies and urged the U.S. Senate to pass the SAVE AMERICA Act, arguing that the legislation is necessary to protect the integrity of American elections.
In remarks addressing election security, the Tennessee Republican referenced comments he said were made by Democratic leadership regarding immigration enforcement near polling places.
“Hey everybody. Tim Burchett, I don’t know if y’all saw it or not, but Democrat leader in the House said yesterday in a press conference, or maybe the day before, they made out a list of all this crazy liberal stuff that they wanted,” Burchett said.

Burchett said the comments included opposition to immigration officials being present at polling places during elections.
“At the end, he said, and we do not want immigration folks at our polling places. And then he doubled down and said, that is non-negotiable,” Burchett said.
Burchett questioned why such opposition would exist and suggested that it was connected to concerns about illegal voting.
“So obviously, why do they not want immigration folks at our polling places? Because guess what? Illegals are voting, and they know it. There’s no other reason for that,” Burchett said.

He also criticized national media coverage of the issue and argued that it has not received sufficient attention.
“And yet our national media refuses to cover that, and that is why the SAVE AMERICA Act is so important right now,” Burchett said.
Burchett called on the Senate to move forward with the legislation and urged lawmakers to remove procedural barriers that could delay its passage.
“Our US Senate needs to nuke the filibuster and get on with it. They need to get on with it,” Burchett said.
The congressman said the bill focuses on election verification requirements that he believes would strengthen confidence in the voting process.
“And we do need to save America because our polling is the most sacred thing we have in a republic that we have,” Burchett said.
Burchett described the provisions of the proposed legislation, saying they mirror identification requirements used in other common situations.
“And this bill, all it does is require a birth certificate to get registered, just like you would for Little League baseball, and a valid ID to vote, just like the same ID you show for when you go buy a six pack of beer, a scratch off or certain types of cough medicine,” Burchett said.
He concluded his remarks by reiterating his support for the legislation and encouraging public support for the measure.
“It’s ridiculous. We do need to save America, folks, and this is how we’re going to do it,” Burchett said.
“Thank you all so much for sending me here. Pray for our country and pray for our president.”
