The preaching at my church is really boring. What can I do about it?
I assume that you are not the preacher in question, but if I am wrong, the following advice might still be helpful. Boring preaching might still be faithful preaching. It would be a tragedy, ought to be a rarity, but is a possibility. Do not give up on the faithful preacher who is struggling to be lively and engaging. If he is not competent and not called to preach, that is a different question.
Consider the assumptions of your question. Is the preaching really boring? Are you finding it boring? Are you finding it boring at the moment? When a faithful man preaches and I find it dull, I must ask questions of my own heart. If he preaches the truth, is something stopping me from delighting in the truth? Is the problem with my appetite and expectations?
By what standard are you judging? Have you changed your diet of ministry, or entertainment? If you are constantly listening to a preacher online then your expectation of your own pastor might be unfair. If you spend your time chasing conferences and ‘conference preachers’ you might be used to a high that is not entirely of God’s making. If you are feeding your soul with a diet of artificial stimulants then ‘ordinary’ preaching might just not hit your taste buds as it once did.
