There’s nothing like playing for your country, and Aaron Judge gets that.
Aaron Judge, the captain of Team USA, rained down a ton of praise on the environment of the World Baseball Classic following the United States beating the Dominican Republic in a tight 2-1 game. The game took place Sunday at Miami’s loanDepot Park.
With the DR right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. attempting to get to third base, Judge made a highlight-reel defensive play to get him out. He almost added a home run on the stat sheet as well, however, it was snatched away by Dominican Republic center fielder Julio Rodriguez. It was an absolutely incredible atmosphere, but don’t take it from me, ask Judge. After the game, he told the media that it was “better” than the World Series. And honestly, I can’t blame him considering you’re able to have “USA” slapped on your chest in the WBC.
“It was bigger and better than the World Series,” said Judge. “The passion that these fans have, representing their country, representing some of their favorite players, there’s nothing like it.”
“You get chills standing there on the line, hearing them announce all the names,” added the New York Yankees superstar. “It was like an All-Star team they got over there.”
