Federal agents reportedly apprehended a 70-year-old man in Alabama on accusations of war crimes from decades ago in a March 18 arrest.
U.S. Marshals apprehended Hamdija Alukic in Mobile on allegations tied to the 1992 Bosnian War, according to Fox 10 Mobile, citing court records. Alukic allegedly served in a Bosnian Muslim paramilitary unit during the 1992-1995 civil war. Investigators built their case on witness testimony. He allegedly orchestrated two separate attacks that left two people dead, records reveal.
A judge ordered him held without bond at the Baldwin County Jail. Authorities want to extradite him to Bosnia-Herzegovina to stand trial on charges of war crimes against civilians, according to the arrest warrant. The criminal complaint filed against him reportedly spans 261 pages. (RELATED: Trump Admin Moves To Strip Alleged Foreign War Criminal Of Citizenship)
In the first incident, Alukic and fellow fighters ambushed a vehicle, opened fire on the driver and torched the car with a corpse still inside, court records alleged. Records allegedly included black-and-white photographs showing the charred wreckage and a bullet hole. In the second, he allegedly commanded a team that divided into two groups and set a pair of occupied homes on fire.
đșđž For decades, Hamdija Alukic lived quietly in rural Alabama. Nice neighbor. Had dogs and chickens. Sold eggs to Walmart.
He was also allegedly a Bosnian war criminal wanted for ambushing a car, shooting the driver, and firebombing homes with people inside.

Alukic previously settled into an unremarkable family life in Wilmer, a small community outside Mobile, for several years before moving, a former neighbor told Fox 10. âThey had dogs, chickens and they would sell eggs to Walmart and stuff. They were always cool,â the neighbor said. âThat just completely blows my mind cause I never seen that coming, thatâs pretty wild.â
The Bosnian War lasted from 1992 to 1995, claimed roughly 100,000 lives and forced over 2 million people from their homes, according to Britannica.
