Cyclist Debora Silvestri Hospitalized After Wild Multi-Racer Crash

This scene is absolutely bananas … holy cow.

Debora Silvestri, a cyclist out of Italy, was placed in the hospital following an incredibly insane crash while the women’s Milan-San Remo one-day classic was happening Saturday.

Numerous cyclists got mixed in the pile-up, and in the process of racers colliding, Silvestri ended up flying over a guardrail while racers were attempting to not get caught up in the crash.

Things took place on the descent while racers were heading down the iconic Cipressa climb, which is under 12 miles from the conclusion of the route, which goes 97 miles.

Kim Le Court-Pienaar and Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney, two favorites to win the race, also got clogged in the crash. Le Court-Pienaar continued on, but would get a finish of 99th place, while Niewiadoma-Phinney’s day came to an end.

The winner of the race was Lotte Kopecky, who edged out Eleonora Gasparrini and Noemi Riiegg in a sprint of five.
