Images from the scene showed debris from the helicopter embedded in the roof where the aircraft punched through the structure. The building, described as newly constructed, sustained visible damage from the impact.
A witness who observed the crash described the helicopter descending rapidly before impact. Rhett Savidge told the Sun Sentinel that he saw the maroon-colored aircraft falling from the sky as he was driving to work at a tractor dealership.
“It just nosedived right into the roof, and it punched a hole in the roof,” Savidge recalled.
