Legendary bodybuilder Lee Haney is asking fans to help him find a living kidney donor.
The 66-year-old star shared a statement Tuesday on Instagram, saying he’s doing well at this time but will soon require an organ donor.
“Greetings to all my family and fans, I am alive and well,” he said. Haney addressed rumors circulating online that suggested he was very ill.
“It’s appalling to see how fast rumors can spread,” he said. “Yes, I am in need of a living kidney donor as communicated by my two awesome children. Many of you have sent prayers my way and I appreciate them deeply.”
“My approach is to be proactive as I face this current challenge,” he continued.
The eight-time Mr. Olympia champion leaned on his faith and assured fans that he was not giving up without a fight.
“My faith in the Lord has always been my super power,” Haney wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you all for being genuinely concern.”
He added that despite the requirement to find an organ match, he remains in positive spirits and good health.
“I am still well and fully functional,” he wrote.

Fans quickly populated the comment section of his post with well wishes. Many offered prayers and encouragement as he battles his health crisis head-on.
His son had previously posted that Haney needed a kidney donor on Instagram.
