A spring break incident in Port Aransas, Texas, that drew widespread attention online has ended in a fatality after a young man involved in a dangerous highway stunt died from injuries sustained in a crash, as reported by The New York Post.

Michael Brown, 22, was pronounced dead last Friday after suffering a catastrophic head injury during the incident, according to a report from KIII-TV.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed his death on Wednesday but did not provide additional details.

The events leading up to the crash took place on March 14 along Highway 361. Authorities said Brown was filmed in a widely circulated video standing on top of a moving Jeep, shirtless and dancing while the vehicle traveled at speed.

The footage, which spread rapidly online, showed the risky behavior taking place in traffic during spring break activity in the coastal area.

According to police, the situation escalated when the driver of the Jeep, identified as Riley Rhoades, collided with a Tesla during what investigators described as a chaotic sequence of events.

Brown was thrown from the vehicle upon impact, suffering severe injuries.

Witnesses at the scene captured additional video showing first responders providing aid to Brown in the middle of the highway following the crash.

The footage also showed the driver and other passengers, dressed in swimsuits, standing nearby as emergency crews worked.
