Iconic singer Celine Dion announced her epic return to the stage after a four-year battle with an incurable condition.
Dion took to Instagram on March 30, the day of her 58th birthday, with a personal video message for her adoring fans. The singer said this was the first time she recorded a birthday message for herself.
“This year, I’m getting the best gift of my life. I’m getting the chance to see you, to perform for you once again in Paris, beginning in September this year!” Dion said.
She continued, “I’m so ready to do this — I’m feeling good, I’m strong, I’m feeling excited, obviously — of course, a little nervous!”
Dion announced she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022, and documented her struggle through extreme pain while battling the disease. She last sang live at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Before that, the singer finished her last full show on March 8, 2020, in Newark, New Jersey.
The National Institute For Neurological Disorders described Stiff Person Syndrome as a rare neurological disease that can lead to touch and sound sensitivity, stiff muscles and muscle spasms. Dion’s voice and ability to walk were affected by the disease, leaving her unable to perform.
Dion addressed her illness head-on, telling fans, “I’m doing great, managing my health, feeling good. I’m singing again, even doing a little bit of dancing.”
She continued, “But I have to tell you something very important: Over these last few years, every day that’s gone by, I felt your prayers and support, your kindness and love.”
The legendary singer’s performance schedule includes a number of days off between shows. She’s slated to perform a 10-night residency at the Paris La Défense Arena in September and October.
Tickets will be available April 7, with registration opening on Dion’s official website March 30. (RELATED: Devastating Video Of Celine Dion Suffering Seizure Surfaces In New Documentary)
