Jenny McCarthy Reveals the Cause Behind ‘Living Hell’ Illness After Months of Mystery [WATCH]

Jenny McCarthy is providing new details about a serious medical condition she says left her dealing with severe symptoms, including growths on her eyes and the loss of multiple teeth, after months of uncertainty surrounding her diagnosis, as reported by The New York Post.

The 53-year-old actress and television personality shared the latest update during an appearance on Maria Menounos’ “Heal Squad” podcast, explaining that her health issues stemmed from complications tied to a root canal she underwent decades earlier.

According to McCarthy, the procedure she had at age 20 did not fully resolve an underlying issue. She said the root canal was not “cleaned out all the way,” which eventually contributed to a series of health problems that escalated over time.

On Tuesday, McCarthy said she later developed a jawbone infection connected to “three … little toxic pools hiding underneath [her] wisdom teeth.” She explained that “There was an infection left in there and a bone grafted on top of it, so I went on my merry way with infection brewing in my bone.”

Despite undergoing multiple oral surgeries in an effort to remove infected teeth, McCarthy said the issue persisted. She stated that she “just kept getting infected,” as the underlying condition continued to affect her health.

The complications extended beyond dental issues. McCarthy described experiencing severe insomnia and leg cramps, which she said were so intense they would cause her to “wake up crying.” Over time, additional symptoms appeared, including unusual growths on her eyes.

She described the growths as “little lesions” that “looked like the nastiest whitehead pus-filled eraser top.” The symptoms were first publicly detailed during a November 2025 interview with People, where McCarthy outlined the severity of her condition.

“I had one infection that turned into another and another, and then I had these growths show up on my eyeballs,” McCarthy told the outlet. “My teeth were falling out, implants falling out.”

At that time, McCarthy said she had undergone nine surgeries and had been “on antibiotics for a year,” while also limiting her diet to “eating soft foods only.” She added, “People should actually feel a little sorry for me!”

In her latest update, McCarthy said she has begun a more intensive treatment plan targeting what she identified as mycotoxin poisoning and mold toxicity.

She reported being three months into what she described as a “heavy-duty mold protocol,” which she expects could last approximately one year.

The treatment includes a significant regimen of supplements, which McCarthy described as taking “like, a hundred supplements.”

She acknowledged that while she has made progress, her recovery is ongoing and will require continued treatment.

McCarthy previously indicated that she believed she was “past the storm,” but her most recent comments suggest that while the underlying cause of her condition has been identified, the path to full recovery remains in progress.

Her account provides a detailed look at how a long-standing dental issue may have contributed to broader health complications, culminating in a series of symptoms that required extensive medical intervention over an extended period.
