Iconic golfer Tiger Woods has announced that he is stepping away “to seek treatment” after recently getting arrested for a DUI in Jupiter Island, Florida, which followed a rollover crash.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” said Woods in a social media statement. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. (RELATED: REPORT: Police Arrest Tiger Woods After Rollover Crash In Florida)
“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
The statement from Woods follows him putting in a not guilty plea, while also waiving his arraignment and requesting a jury trial Tuesday.

Police arrested Woods and allegedly discovered prescription opioids in his pocket following Friday’s rollover crash, per court documents.
Woods, who has won 15 majors on the PGA Tour, was charged with driving under the influence with property damage. The golfer also declined to do a blood alcohol level (BAL) test following police saying that his vehicle was in a collision with another car while he was allegedly driving impaired.
According to an arrest affidavit, which was obtained by Fox News Digital, Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputies said that they observed multiple impairment signs following the rollover.
Police said that Woods was “sweating profusely,” seemingly moving “lethargic and slow,” and branded his eyes as “bloodshot and glassy” and “extremely dilated,” which they noticed after he removed his sunglasses.
