
A fatal shooting on Easter Sunday in Brooklyn left one man dead and another in critical condition after a gunman opened fire on a public street, according to authorities and surveillance footage of the incident, as reported by The New York Post.
The shooting occurred just before 6 p.m. on Fulton Street between Cleveland and Elton Street in the Cypress Hills neighborhood, according to the New York Police Department.
Officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered two men, ages 30 and 50, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to Brookdale University Medical Center in critical condition. Police said the 30-year-old man was later pronounced dead. The 50-year-old man remained in critical condition as of the latest update.

Authorities confirmed that a person of interest connected to the shooting has been taken into custody. No further details about the individual or possible charges were immediately released.
Surveillance footage obtained from the scene captured the moments leading up to the shooting. The video shows two men standing on the sidewalk beneath the elevated J train platform, near a small group of individuals gathered nearby.

According to the footage, one of the men appears to exchange words with others in the group. Moments later, a man wearing a gray jacket and light-colored pants pulls out a firearm and begins firing multiple shots at the two men.
The video shows the suspect continuing to fire even after the victims fell to the ground. One individual dressed in dark clothing and white sneakers is seen walking away from the group as the gunfire begins.

Images from the aftermath show a heavy police presence at the scene, with officers marking numerous shell casings scattered across the street. Onlookers gathered nearby as investigators worked to secure the area and collect evidence.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims. It remains unclear what led to the confrontation or whether the individuals involved were known to one another.
