Disturbing Bodycam Footage Shows Inside Gene Hackman’s Home When His Body Was Discovered

Newly released police bodycam footage captured the moment police located the bodies of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa.

TMZ shared the shocking video in a report published April 15. The footage showed the couples’ loyal dog lying next to Arakawa’s deceased body, as police made the gruesome discovery then continued to scour the Santa Fe home in search of Hackman. The camera revealed a cluttered scene inside the home, with items and clothing scattered throughout. The body of the famous actor was eventually discovered near the kitchen area.

Three male officers appeared in the footage, and a female officer’s voice was heard throughout the recording, as she walked through the home and evaluated the scene.

“Have you guys taken photos and stuff?” she asked.

A male voice replied, “no I haven’t taken photos yet.”

A pair of jeans and a number of items of clothing were piled up next to a vanity mirror filled with what appeared to be personal care products.

A few silent moments passed after the officers located Hackman’s body in an entirely different area than where they found his wife. An adjacent room showed piles and piles of paper and was also in a state of disarray.

“Two totally separate areas,” the female officer said.

A different dog was found dead in a crate, after reportedly being crated following a veterinary appointment, according to TMZ.

The outlet reported that the New Mexico Department of Public Health conducted an environmental assessment that revealed Hackman and Arakawa’s property was infested by rodents. They said dead pests and nests were found scattered throughout 8 detached outbuildings.
