Patty Morin, the mother of 37-year-old Rachel Morin, who was murdered in Maryland in 2023, delivered a powerful and emotional statement at the White House on Wednesday, calling attention to the dangers posed by criminal illegal aliens and urging elected officials and the media to prioritize American families over political narratives.
Morin’s daughter Rachel was reportedly killed by an illegal alien.
Authorities have identified the suspect as a Salvadoran national with a violent record.

Speaking during the White House briefing, Morin said her daughter’s death was not a political issue but a matter of national security.
“This is about protecting Americans,” she said.
“This is about protecting our children.”
During her statement, Morin called out Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) for traveling to El Salvador to advocate on behalf of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien and alleged MS-13 gang member who was deported from the U.S. and is currently being held in a Salvadoran prison.

“To have a senator from Maryland who didn’t even acknowledge or barely acknowledge my daughter and the brutal death that she endured, leaving her five children without a mother … so that he can use my taxpayer money to fly to El Salvador to bring back someone that’s not even an American citizen,” Morin said.
“Why does that person have more rights than I do, or my daughter, or my grandchildren?”
This is FULL gut-wrenching speech Angel Mom Patty Morin just gave to the press.
The entire media is obsessed with the fate of a foreign criminal gang member who broke into this country and then tried lying in order to stay here.

Following Morin’s remarks, President Donald Trump invited her into the Oval Office and embraced her.
“You’ve become a dear friend,” Morin said to the president, who told her, “She’s looking down on you” and “She’s proud of you,” referring to Rachel.

Trump has repeatedly emphasized the importance of immigration enforcement and border security, often highlighting the voices of victims’ families.
Morin’s visit is the latest example of the administration’s continued engagement with Americans who have lost loved ones due to crimes committed by individuals unlawfully present in the United States.
In contrast, Sen. Van Hollen issued a brief public statement acknowledging Rachel Morin’s death but placed blame on Republicans.
He has not reached out directly to the Morin family, nor has he advocated for justice on their behalf.
Rachel Morin was a Maryland resident and constituent of the senator’s.
The media response was also noted.
Major outlets, including CNN and MSNBC, did not air Morin’s statement during the White House briefing.
MSNBC instead focused on coverage of a rally held by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in Montana, as well as an interview with political columnist John Heilemann.
CNN aired a segment on California Governor Gavin Newsom and coverage of the NBA.
White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung criticized the lack of coverage, highlighting the media’s focus on the plight of Kilmar Abrego Garcia while ignoring the words of a grieving American mother. “They don’t want to tell the story,” Cheung said.

Morin, speaking directly to reporters, pleaded with them to “tell the truth” about her daughter’s case and about the broader issue of criminal illegal immigration.
“We need to start telling the truth,” she said.

The discrepancy in media coverage has fueled broader criticism of the press’s priorities, as well as concerns about where public officials direct their advocacy.
The divide is stark: while President Trump has prioritized victim advocacy and enforcement, Democrats have been criticized for directing attention and resources to non-citizens facing deportation.
Morin’s story has drawn attention to a larger issue that continues to resonate with voters: the impact of criminal illegal immigration on American families.
Public trust in both media institutions and political leadership remains low.
A recent survey cited by administration officials places Democratic approval at just 21 percent, underscoring a growing disconnect between elected leaders and the public.
