She’s back! Kamala Harris headlines DNC fundraiser – tickets start at $25K

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has largely flown under the radar since her loss to President Donald Trump in November, but it would appear that she’s still very much involved in politics.

Harris is reportedly set to co-host a Democratic fundraiser with DNC chair Ken Martin in May, with lower-end tickets starting at an eye-popping $25,000. For those suckered by feel-good slogans, the “fighting for the future” ticket tier can be purchased for $44,300. A New York Times article noted that the fundraiser invitations indicate the evening’s festivities will largely be focused on a discussion between Harris and Martin.

This will mark one of the few occasions Harris has spoken publicly following her shocking loss to Trump. She also made an appearance at the February NAACP Image Awards, where she predictably bashed her opponent’s victory.

“Some look at this moment and rightly feel the weight of history. Some see the flames on our horizons, the rising waters in our cities, the shadows gathering over our democracy, and ask, ‘What do we do now?’ But we know exactly what to do, because we have done it before, and we will do it again,” she said.

“I’m not here to say I told you so,” she said at another point in the speech, prompting laughter from herself and the audience.

Many have predicted that Harris would run to replace Governor Gavin Newsom at California’s helm, further suggesting that Newsom will run for the presidency in 2028 after Trump’s final term is up. There is also speculation that the former vice president will take another crack at the White House in 2028, with an early inter-party poll indicating she enjoys a significant lead over other Democrats who may potentially join the race.

However, there is much discussion regarding the future of the party and how young progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) may be working to shape their own role in the party. AOC has positioned herself as something of a leader regarding the party’s opposition to Trump, taking the place of the usual names like Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). This has some people suspicious that she is setting herself up to benefit from a potential pendulum swing following the end of Trump’s term.
