Harvard Sues Trump Administration After Funding Freeze

President Trump’s war on woke universities has unsurprisingly gone down like a lead balloon with the liberal elite. Harvard University is now suing the Trump administration, claiming it is attempting to “gain control of academic decision-making at Harvard” after the president announced a $2.2 billion freeze on federal grants. The move followed Harvard’s rejection of demands including banning DEI programmes, enacting merit-based hiring and admissions reforms and appointing an external overseer to ensure the university’s viewpoints are “diverse.” Apparently not the sort of “diversity” Harvard had in mind…

The crackdown comes after the administration accused Ivy League schools of mishandling last year’s “anti-American” and “anti-Semitic” pro-Palestine protests. Harvard’s president Alan Garber wrote: “These actions have stark real-life consequences for patients, students, faculty, staff, researchers, and the standing of American higher education in the world.” Pass the tissues…

White House principal deputy press secretary Harrison Fields hit back, saying:

“The gravy train of federal assistance to institutions like Harvard, which enrich their grossly overpaid bureaucrats with tax dollars from struggling American families, is coming to an end. Taxpayer funds are a privilege, and Harvard fails to meet the basic conditions required to access that privilege.”
