Beachgoers Watch in Terror as Diver is Killed Screaming ‘They’re Biting Me!’ in Rare Shark Attack [WATCH]

A serene afternoon at a popular Israeli beach turned into a nightmarish scene as a diver was believed to have been killed in a rare shark attack, captured in chilling footage by stunned onlookers.

The attack, which took place off the coast of the city of Hadera, left beachgoers horrified and authorities scrambling to locate the victim.

The still-unidentified diver was swimming in an area that has become a magnet for tourists eager to glimpse large sharks that often roam the warm waters near the Hadera power plant.

What was meant to be a thrilling experience ended in tragedy, as beachgoers witnessed the man struggling in the surf before being dragged out to sea.

“They’re biting me!” the diver was heard screaming in distress, according to The Times of Israel.

In the terrifying video that quickly spread across social media, panicked voices can be heard narrating the gruesome scene.

“They’re eating him, eating the man!” one shocked onlooker cries out. Another voice adds with disbelief, “Wow, wow, he’s with the shark, he’s fighting him.”

Eyewitnesses described the scene as nothing short of horrifying. Eliya Motai, who was in the water at the time, told Ynet,

“I was in the water, I saw blood and there were screams.” Shlomo, another beachgoer who saw the attack unfold, said he and his friends were deeply shaken.

“We were just walking down to the water when we saw someone flailing in the sea — fighting a shark and trying to get away. The shark lunged at him. It was hard to watch,” he said.

“It was chilling. We literally saw the shark attack him … It could’ve been me.”

Authorities responded immediately, shutting down the beach and launching an intensive search involving divers, jet skis, and helicopters.

Nearly 24 hours later, human remains were discovered in the area.

While the identity has not yet been officially confirmed, investigators believe the remains are likely those of the missing diver.

“At this point, I am able to say that there were several findings that were sent for [forensic] examination, and we will await the professional results,” police spokesperson Aryeh Doron told the press.

Distraught family members reportedly rushed to the beach upon hearing of the gruesome discovery, clinging to hope while awaiting confirmation. Officials have not yet released details about the victim’s age or background.

Shark attacks are exceedingly rare in Israel. According to marine life experts, this would be only the third confirmed shark attack in the country in the past 80 years. The last fatal attack occurred in the 1940s.

Yigael Ben-Ari, head of marine rangers at the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, expressed shock over the incident.

He noted that the sharks typically spotted off Hadera’s coast — including dusky sharks and sandbar sharks — are generally not aggressive toward humans.

“These species have been swimming in the area for years, and encounters usually end without incident,” he said.

Dusky sharks can grow up to 13 feet in length and weigh as much as 750 pounds. Sandbar sharks, though smaller at around 8 feet and 220 pounds, can still pose a threat under certain conditions.

Both species are considered endangered and are known to gather in the region’s warm waters, particularly during the spring and fall.

The area where the attack occurred has drawn attention in recent years for its unique proximity between people and large marine predators. Just days before the incident, another video went viral showing a massive shark swimming alarmingly close to a young child standing in the shallows. “What a huge shark!” the man filming can be heard exclaiming.

“Whoa! He’s coming toward us!” he yells, urging the child nearby, “Don’t move!” The child replies quickly: “I’m leaving.”

The man then asks, “What, are you afraid of the sharks?”

In the wake of the attack, officials are reevaluating safety protocols for swimmers and divers in the area. There are growing calls to restrict access to known shark zones, especially during peak migration periods.

Marine biologists stress the importance of education and awareness when entering waters where large predators are known to swim.

For now, what was once a thrilling marine attraction has become a somber reminder of the ocean’s unpredictability — and the need for vigilance, even in places where danger seems distant.

As the forensic investigation continues, the community remains in shock, mourning what is presumed to be the country’s first shark-related fatality in decades.
