The ONS has released crime statistics for the year to December 2024. It’s up on the last release from three months ago…
Headline crime is 14% higher than last year’s survey. Shoplifting offences rose by 20% and stand at the highest rate since police recording practices began back in 2003. The MoJ has put out a new £39,495 contract for someone to run a “Community Art Project” over at HMP Elmley in Kent. This comes on top of the hundreds of thousands spent on diversity training courses in the prison system. For that cash you could:
- Train three band 3 prison officers.
- Hire a permanent prison officer.
- Fill 549 potholes.
