Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s brother is hitting back against viral and false rumors that claim he was involved in a fentanyl trafficking ring.
Gabriel Ocasio-Cortez posted his denial on TikTok and threatened legal action over the allegations.
“Don’t make me sue,” he declared.
The rumor mill started churning when a woman reportedly cited a bogus article falsely identifying Gabriel as “AOC’s brother,” who had been caught on Lake Superior in a boat carrying $1.2 million worth of fentanyl. The bogus article also referred to “AOC’s brother” as “Matthew.”
“I’m the brother. My name’s not Matthew. I have no idea why they’re posting this,” Gabriel said after the video started to spread.
“I work with the homeless. I have nothing to do with this story, which isn’t real. Please find something better to do with your time.”
He then threatened to sue over the slanderous accusations that he claimed could have dire consequences, according to the New York Post.

“That’s all it takes to start to get somebody that’s a little bit radicalized, somebody that’s willing to pick up their guns and go do something,” he said.
“And it wouldn’t be the first time somebody’s tried. That’s the society that we’re in, so things like this are just more serious than ever — and you can’t slander people.”
According to X’s fact-checker Community Notes, the rumors originated from a satirical website, “Dunning-Kruger Times.”
