Megachurch pastor declares ‘full’ boycott of Target over DEI policies, but investigative reporter smells a rat

The pastor of a Southern megachurch who had called for a 40-day “fast” of Target stores is doubling down, urging a “full” boycott.

Rev. Jamal Bryant is upset the retail giant isn’t living up to his boycott’s DEI demands. Funding black-owned businesses and restoring its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are among the movement’s demands, The Hill reported.

Bryant launched the “fast” after Target announced in January that it would phase out its DEI policies amid the Trump administration’s efforts to root out the divisive initiatives within the U.S. government.

Bryant, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, outside Atlanta, Georgia, began his first Target attack in March, according to The Hill.

“Until Target comes to the table with serious, concrete proposals to meet our four demands, we will remain in this posture,” Bryant said on a website dedicated to the ongoing boycott effort.

“Silence and delay are no longer acceptable,” he added. “Our communities deserve action, not platitudes. Our demands are not radical — they are righteous, reasonable, and long overdue.”

Target offered a tempered statement in response:

“We [Target] have an ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all team members, guests, and suppliers. It’s core to how we support and grow our business,” the company said. “We remain focused on supporting organizations and creating opportunities for people in the 2,000 communities where we live and operate.”

The extended boycott received plenty of support on X from leftists:

“Target is being hit where it hurts, in the profits. Money trumps everything. Fight the power!!!” Willie Ross Jr. declared in a post that received over 31,000 likes.

Free Beacon investigative reporter Chuck Ross, however, suspects that there might be other motivations and highlighted Al Sharpton’s involvement.

“They’re likely jockeying to be at the front of the line if/when Target makes a settlement,” Ross declared.

Apparently, money really does “trump everything.”
