Body of missing Princeton student found in lake bordering the university

The body of a Princeton University student who had been missing since April 19 was found in Lake Carnegie, which borders the school, on Friday.

The school first reported that Lauren Blackburn, 23, of the class of 2026 was missing on Tuesday, and added that he had last been seen at around 6 p.m. Saturday near the school’s Firestone Library.

On Friday, Princeton Dean of Undergraduate Students Regan Crotty informed the school community that Mr. Blackburn’s body had been found in Lake Carnegie. No mention was made as to what may have caused his death.

“Our hearts are heavy and we share our deepest condolences with Lauren’s family and friends. It is during these difficult times that we must draw strength and support from one another … We know that every member of our community joins us in sending our condolences to Lauren’s family, friends, and loved ones and in wishing them strength in this most difficult time,” Ms. Crotty wrote.

Mr. Blackburn, an English major, is the seventh undergraduate to die at Princeton since 2021, according to The Daily Princetonian. All six other cases were ruled suicides.
