Fox News crushes the competition, more than doubles MSNBC’s primetime viewership

Fox News is crushing the competition in the ratings, more than doubling MSNBC’s viewership in the coveted primetime slot.

As the mainstream media continues to hemorrhage viewers, Fox News is dominating its competition. April ratings show the network maintaining an average of 1.6 million daytime viewers, with that number surging to 2.6 million during primetime hours. Coming in at a distant second place is MSNBC with 656,000 average daily viewers and 1.21 million. CNN takes the third place consolation prize with 411,000 average daily viewers and 519,000 average primetime viewers.

These numbers mean that Fox is the only network to experience an overall increase in viewership year after year, with a total of 28% increase in daytime viewership and a 31% increase in primetime viewership. MSNBC and CNN both experienced losses, with CNN being down 18% in daytime and 17% in primetime. MSNBC, on the other hand, lost 24% in daytime and 4% in primetime from April of 2024.

However, MSNBC has seen its primetime audience double since its drop before President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“April was the network’s highest-rated month since October. Rachel Maddow’s prime time show also cracked the top 10 shows on cable news for the month, with Fox scoring the other 13 programs in the top 14,” Mediaite reported.

“In April, Fox’s The Five continued its dominance in the cable news industry, bringing in both the most total viewers and the most viewers in the key 25-54 age demographic. The Five brought in 4.1 million total viewers and 447,00 demo viewers to secure the top spot. Jesse Watters Primetime landed second with 3.6 million total viewers and 421,000 demo viewers, while Gutfeld! Came in third with 3.05 million total viewers and 375,000 demo viewers,” the report continued.
