Trump Torches ‘Low-IQ, Future of the Party’ Dem Rep Live on National TV [WATCH]

President Donald Trump delivered sharp criticism of several high-profile Democrats during an interview aired Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press, singling out Texas Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and Independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, while once again condemning Joe Biden’s leadership.

During the interview with host Kristen Welker, President Trump said the Democratic Party was “in total disarray” and cited Rep. Crockett as an example of what he sees as the party’s decline in leadership quality.

“They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other day, she’s definitely a low-IQ person, and they said she’s the future of the party. I said you have to be kidding,” Trump said.

Crockett, who represents Texas’s 30th Congressional District, gained national attention after a heated exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia during a House Oversight Committee hearing in May 2024.

She has since become a prominent voice for the progressive wing of the party and a frequent presence in media appearances.

In addition to her exchange with Greene, Crockett has drawn controversy for past remarks, including her use of profanity in congressional settings and for referring to Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott as “Governor Hot Wheels,” a reference to Abbott’s wheelchair use following a 1984 spinal cord injury.

President Trump also commented on the state of the Democratic Party more broadly, expressing concern about its leadership bench and aging political figures.

“I really believe in a two-party system, because it’s good to be challenged,” Trump said.

“It’s really good to have a two-party [system]. Being challenged is okay, it keeps you sharp. I don’t know what they’re gonna do. They have nobody.”

He continued, “Bernie’s 87 years old or something and you know, Biden is the worst thing that ever happened to old people.”

Senator Sanders, who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in both 2016 and 2020, has recently teamed up with Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York in what they’ve called an “anti-oligarchy” campaign.

The effort has focused on criticizing President Trump and White House Senior Advisor Elon Musk, whom they accuse of catering to corporate interests.

Trump addressed Sanders directly in the interview, stating, “He’s a nutjob, but he’s still sharp. He’s sharp… he’s the same guy as he was. He hasn’t gone down.”

In contrast, Trump reiterated his view that Biden, now in his early 80s, has declined significantly during his time in office.

“Biden is really, he’s the worst thing to happen to old people,” Trump said.

The comments come as President Trump continues to solidify his administration’s second-term agenda and sharpen criticism of Democratic leadership ahead of the 2026 midterm election cycle.

The Meet the Press interview aired Sunday morning and was part of Trump’s broader media push during his first 100 days in office.

No response has yet been issued by Rep. Crockett or Senator Sanders regarding the president’s remarks.
