Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley slammed Democrats on Fox News Wednesday for wrecking the economy, the border, and America’s standing in the world and then pretending they had nothing to do with it.
Biden defended his economic record in a BBC interview and dismissed President Donald Trump’s presidency as lacking any real achievements and insisting his own policies delivered stronger global leadership and market growth. During an appearance on “Hannity,” Hawley pointed to soaring inflation, spiraling border chaos and runaway spending as direct consequences of Democratic policies that took place under the Biden administration.
“He doesn’t have a solution, which is why he’s out of office. But here’s the thing that I think is so hilarious is that Joe Biden and Buttigieg and all the rest, they now act like they have no idea how the country got into this state,” Hawley said, responding to host Sean Hannity’s question about what he thinks Biden’s solution is to the war in Ukraine.
The senator also torched the Biden administration’s handling of the border, calling it a self-inflicted disaster.

“I mean, my gosh, inflation is really high. Gee, how did that happen? I don’t know. Maybe it’s because Joe Biden shut down American energy production, spent three, four trillion dollars on Green New Deal giveaways,” Hawley said. “Buttigieg acts like ‘How did the border get to be such a problem?’ I don’t know. Maybe because Joe Biden opened it up and let every criminal and gang member come across the border. Donald Trump closed it in like two weeks flat.”
Hawley said Democrats are out of step with everyday Americans and accused them of prioritizing symbolic overseas trips over real issues at home. (RELATED: Brit Hume Says ‘Decrepit’ Biden’s Interview With Foreign Outlet Reinforces Why Americans Wanted Trump)
“These people live on a different planet, Sean. They’re totally out of touch with reality. Donald Trump is turning the country around in 100 short days, and that’s why they’re desperate. The Democrats are totally desperate,” Hawley said. “They’re jetting around now to foreign countries to hold hands with terrorists. This is what they think is important.”
Biden faced major economic challenges during his term, including surging inflation that hit 9.1% in June 2022 and drove up costs for American families. At the same time, energy prices climbed as his administration scaled back domestic oil and gas production and poured funding into green energy initiatives.
U.S. authorities recorded approximately 8.5 million migrant encounters at the southern border during the four years of the Biden-Harris administration.
