The eagerly awaited plume of white smoke wafted from the Sistine Chapel’s chimney in the Vatican on Thursday, ending the suspense of who would replace the recently deceased Pope Francis as the new Pontiff and assume the role as global leader of the Catholic Church.

Democrats were finally able to exhale now that it’s been made official that there will be no Pope Donald J. Trump, but they may have picked up one hell of a consolation prize in Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who looks like just another left-winger from Chicago.
Prevost, who will go by the name of Leo XIV, is likely to be an improvement over his borderline Marxist predecessor, but that’s not saying much. Being the first American to ever hold the holy position drew much proud patriotic sentiment, including from Trump, but it’s far from the return to traditional values that many had been hoping for, so conservatives should temper their flag-waving and hold off on singing “Yankee Doodle Dandy” just yet.
It didn’t take long for Prevost’s recent social media activity to be shared on X, and the early indications seem to be that he’d fit right in with other Windy City Democrats with his grumbling about Trump’s immigration policies concerning wife-beating, human trafficking MS-13 thug Kilmar Abrego Garcia and taking shots at Vice President JD Vance, a fellow Catholic.

Like the deceased Francis, Leo is also an advocate of open borders, and recently shared a post from Catholic commentator Rocco Palmo ripping both Trump and El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele over the deporting of Abrego Garcia, the Democratic Party’s newest hero.

Back in 2015, Prevost took to Twitter to slam Trump over his “problematic” stance on illegal immigration.

The holy Pontiff has quite the history of agreeing with leftists, like Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a notorious liar, gun grabber and agitator who is one of the party’s foremost anti-Trump voices.

“Social media can be an important tool to communicate the Gospel message reaching millions of people,” the new pope said in a 2023 interview with the Vatican News Service. “At the same time, the world today, which is constantly changing, presents situations where we really have to think several times before speaking or before writing a message on Twitter, in order to answer or even just to ask questions in a public form, in full view of everyone.”
“Sometimes there is a risk of fueling divisions and controversy,” Prevost added, and he wasn’t just whistling Dixie.
Look for God-hating leftists to seize on the new pope’s philosophical differences as a new weapon against Trump and Vance. In fact, they already are.

“Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was just named Pope. It is such an honor to realize that he is the first American Pope. What excitement, and what a Great Honor for our Country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV. It will be a very meaningful moment!” Trump wrote in a Thursday Truth Social post, congratulating the new American pope.
