Donald Trump Supporter Confronts Letitia James at Heated New York Town Hall [WATCH]

A town hall hosted by New York Attorney General Letitia James was momentarily interrupted Thursday night when an attendee confronted her over her legal actions against President Donald Trump and asked if she would apologize, as reported by Fox News.

The event, held in New York and largely attended by critics of Trump, took a sharp turn when one man, appearing to support the former president, rose to address James directly.

“My question is for Tish James. Will you apologize to President Trump for wasting millions of dollars and the state of New York for a witch trial? And how does it feel to know that you are [going to] prison for mortgage fraud?”

The crowd responded with boos, and the man was quickly escorted out. James did not directly answer the question but responded with, “Thank you for coming,” as the disruption concluded.

Letitia James, a Democrat, gained national attention for bringing a civil lawsuit against President Trump, his family members, and associates.

The suit alleged “numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation” related to property valuations and financial statements. A judge initially ordered Trump to pay $454 million in damages, though that amount was later reduced.

President Trump has consistently characterized James’ case as politically motivated and referred to it as part of a “witch hunt” funded by New York taxpayers.

In the latest development, the Department of Justice has opened a criminal investigation into James following a referral by William Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency under the Trump administration.

Pulte’s referral alleges that James may have committed mortgage fraud by misrepresenting a single-family residence in Virginia as her primary residence to obtain more favorable loan terms.

She is also accused of misrepresenting the number of livable units in a Brooklyn multifamily property to secure better loan conditions.

In April, New York City attorney Pierre Debbas told Fox News Digital that the criminal referral would likely never have been issued if James had not initiated legal action against Trump.

“The attorney general’s case that was brought against Donald Trump was honestly a pure manipulation of the legal system, and it was laughable,” Debbas said.

“To be perfectly frank, this is a retaliatory case brought by the president for what the attorney general did to him over the last several years,” Debbas continued.

“Something that’s never taken place in the history of New York that was isolated at one particular person for a politically driven purpose.”

As the criminal investigation progresses, James has not publicly responded to the DOJ probe.
